A keyless bush is a mechanical power transmission component which eliminates the requirement of a drive key or pinned connection and instead utilises the drive capabilities of a locking taper or wedge principle between a shaft and a hub.

Axial loads can also be contained which therefore helps to locate the hub along the shaft.

The advantage of using a keyless bush over a drive key is the need to precisely machine keyways into the shaft and hub are removed.

Using a taper lock bush can remove backlash in setups when applied correctly, although, slip can still occur during machine overload or underrated component selections. Additionally, keyless bushes will cost more than a parallel drive key.
