A chucking reamer is a drilling tool with straight or spiral cutting edges. Its other name is the machine reamer and is designed to enlarge an existing hole. Once expanded, you can proceed to install a fastener such as a screw or a bolt.
The Chucking Reamer will either feature a Morse or straight shank to allow for mounting on a screw machine, lathe, or drill press. Besides, the cutting edge has a 45 degrees chamfer for added accuracy during tasks.
Straight Flute Reamers are used in general-purpose cutting while the Spiral type pulls the chips upwards. Chucking Reamers can be used on steel, iron, bronze, brass, aluminum, or even plastic.
The reamer diameter of the round shank varies from fractions of an inch to 1.5 inches. The flute length ranges from ½ inch to 3-1/2 inches. Also, the length of the cutting tip can be anywhere from 2-12 inches.
