Allen Bradley Guardmaster - Atlas 5, Heavy Duty Safety Switches
The Atlas 5 Range of guard locking switches by Allen Bradley Guardmaster features an optional flexible actuator which reduces minimum operating radius, convenient lid mounted status indication, and 2 possible actuator entry positions - front and end entry. Atlas 5 switches are supplied with a dedicated Atlas actuator. Atlas 5 switches have the power to release 3 sets of contacts: 2N/C 1N/O, which make them ideal for PLC machines.
Standards: EN1088, EN 292, EN 60204-01 & EN60947-5-1
440G-L07253 Safety Switch
The 440G-L07253 Solenoid Interlock Switch from the innovative Atlas 5 range of machine safety products is a heavy-duty guard locking switch. This tongue-operated safety mechanism ensures that your machine guard can only be unlocked when the machine has come to a complete stop and the internal solenoid is energised. This then allows the tongue to be removed from the switch. When power is removed, the tongue is locked in the switch. Power is isolated while the machine guard is open, providing critical protection to personnel in your workplace.
Allen-Bradley Guardmaster has an extensive portfolio of high-quality safety switches and products for machine applications, which are rigorously tested and designed to improve functional efficiency of machinery and eliminate risk of injury. Their reliable safety products deliver cost-effective solutions for a wide variety of industrial applications, giving you maximum flexibility and control.
Features and Benefits:
The metal housing is a highly resilient die-cast alloy, making it suitable for harsh environments
It features a left-hand key lock
Has a patented self-aligning head which tolerates actuator and guard misalignment
The power to unlock function enhances safety by ensuring that power is only applied to the switch when the guard door requires opening
It has a high holding force of 3850N (865 lbs)
What is a Solenoid Interlock Switch?
A solenoid interlock mechanism is a switch with an internal solenoid which is used to ensure that safety guards, gates or doors are locked while a machine is running. The safety guard can only be unlocked when the machine has come to a complete stop and the internal solenoid is energised by a separate signal. A solenoid is a wire coil which converts electrical energy to mechanical, functioning as an electromagnet.
What are Solenoid Interlock Switches used for?
This type of safety switch is predominantly used in hazardous environments where a machine may continue running after the power supply is stopped, and where interruption can cause damage to a machine or serious injury to operators. These interlock devices are a highly reliable method of preventing both accidental and deliberate access to dangerous machinery while it is still running. They are also used to prevent un-safe access to pressurised sites and areas of high temperature.
