Apple to Make Every iPhone with Renewables

October 27, 2015

Apple is working with Foxconn to generate clean energy that can be used to make every iPhone with renewable. Apple is working with partners in China for this ambitious plan to roll out wind, solar and hydropower systems that will generate an incredible 2 gigawatts of power by 2020.

According to an estimate given by Apple, the program will avoid over 20 million metric tons of greenhouse gas pollution in the country between now and 2020, which is equivalent to taking nearly 4 million passenger vehicles off the road for one year.

The current statistics within the company shows that the company had 87% of its energy use powered by clean sources and such upcoming projects can help them get to 100%. As part of Apple’s industry-leading program, Foxconn will construct 400 megawatts of solar by 2018 in the Henan Province. Foxconn has shown commitment to generate as much clean energy as its Zhengzhou factory consumes in final production of iPhone.
