Martin Sprocket & Gear is a manufacturer of power transmission components, industrial hand tools, heavy duty conveyor pulleys, and material handling components and systems. The company's product offerings include sheaves, gears, sprockets, couplings, drag conveyors, bushings, timing pulleys, and idlers, to name a few.

 

History

Martin Sprocket & Gear was established by Joe Martin in 1951. The company relocated from Grand Prairie, Texas to its current location in Arlington a year later. In 1957, the company's first regional manufacturing plant is opened in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin expands its manufacturing processes to include sintered metal in 1966 in its location in Paragould, Arkansas. Several years later, the company increased its production of sprockets by adding a new facility (it's 10th one) in Abilene, Texas. In 1982, Martin's first bulk material handling plant is acquired. Two years later, the company acquired Fort Worth Steel & Machinery which allowed it to expand its product range to include material handling products such as forgings and v-belt sheaves. The company also added industrial hand tools to its product lines. In 1991, Martin established operations in Canada. Three years later, it further expanded operations by establishing branches in Mexico. Plants were purchased in China in 1997 in order to meet the customer demands in Asia and Europe. In 2010, the company expanded to Brazil.

 

Headquarters & Locations

Martin Sprocket & Gear has its headquarters located in Arlington, Texas. It has 31 facilities strategically located within the U.S. and three in Canada. Martin also has three branches in Mexico, one in Brazil, and six in China.
