Rossi Gearmotors
Rossi S.p.A. (also known as Rossi Gearmotors), a subsidiary of the Habasit Group, manufactures and sells gear reducers, electrical brake motors, electronic speed variation, and gearmotors. Rossi products include helical and bevel helical gear reducers, worm gear reducers, planetary gear reducers, coaxial gear reducers, planetary gearmotors, and worm gearmotors. The company serves markets in the heavy industry including plastic and rubber, metal, automotive, manufacturing, heavy equipment, material handling equipment, steelmaking, wind energy, and mining.
History
Rossi was founded in 1953 by Gilio Rossi. During the 1980s, the company develops geared motors and worm gear reducers that have universal mounting screws, ZI involute profiles, and modular casings. It was also during this period that the company established subsidiaries in Germany, France, UK, and Spain in order to expand its direct sales organization overseas. During the 1990s, Rossi became the first transmissions manufacturer in Italy to receive ISO 9001 Quality System Certification. It was also during this period that the company introduced universal mounting as well as a new modular system in coaxial gear reducers. In addition, Rossi developed a low-noise brake motor as well as the industrialization of independent cooling for electric motors. In 1994, the company also established a subsidiary in Australia and acquired SEIMIC Electric motors. Another milestone occured in 1997 when Rossi purchased Siemec engine division. In 2002, Rossi acquired SMEI in Lecce, Italy, a company that manufactures and distributes planetary gear motors. A year later, Rossi obtained ISO 9001 certification worldwide. In 2004, the company opened an assembly and sales facility in Suwanee, Georgia, U.S. Within the same year, the Swiss-based company, Habasit, acquired a significant portion of Rossi. By 2009, Habasit Holding become the sole owner of Rossi Motoriduttori. The company changed its logo and name to Rossi S.p.A. a year later. Some years later, the RossiForYou portal is launched, enabling customers to place their orders online as well as to track them. Some time later, the application "Rossi Solution" within the RossiForYou portal was launched, completing the automation of the company's sales organization.

Rossi is headquartered in Modena, Italy with subsidiaries located in UK, Turkey, Spain, Poland, Germany, France, Benelux, South Africa, India, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, New Zealand, and Australia. The company also has divisions located in Brazil, Canada, Mexico, U.S. Rossi's assembly facilities are located in Germany, France, UK, Spain, India, Turkey, China, U.S., and several in Australia.
