History
Woodex Bearing started out as a trademark of The Neveroil Bearing Company back in 1908. The company was later renamed The Wakefield Corporation and transitioned to powdered metal fabrication. As a result, the Woodex trademark and shop were sold in 1966. This shop, which was relocated in Robinhood, Maine, became Woodex Bearing Company, Inc. In 1980, the ownership of the company changed and the shop was moved to Georgetown, Maine where it still remains today. In 2012, 51% of the company was purchased by Woodex employees thus the company is now employee-owned and operated as an E.S.O.P. trust.
