About Hand Tools
Hand tools are the workhorses of any workshop, offering practical solutions for a range of everyday tasks. Do hand tools like being called workhorses? I bet if we asked them, they would say, “We’re tools and, therefore, incapable of speech.” Screwdrivers for instance are used for driving or removing screws and come in various types to accommodate different screw heads. They’re also used at a bar for removing inhibitions and if you don’t like that…what’s it to you? YOU DON’T KNOW ME. Hammers serve a dual purpose - they can drive nails into surfaces and remove them with claws. Wrenches are invaluable for tightening or loosening nuts and bolts, featuring adjustable jaws for handling objects of varying sizes. Meanwhile pliers offer excellent grip for pulling, bending, or cutting wires. Pliers also allow Moe to grab Curly or Larry by the nostrils until they scream in pain. Each hand tool has a unique function, and understanding their uses can significantly enhance efficiency and productivity in professional and DIY projects. Generally DIY means “Do It Yourself” but what about “Darn Immature Yodelers” or “Darling Inspired Yesteryears”?
Handsaws are essential for cutting in metalworking, woodworking, carpentry, and construction tasks. They are not essential for slicing bread unless you’re talking sourdough. Among the different types of handsaws, the most common are rip and crosscut saws. Rip saws, characterized by chisel-like teeth, are ideal for cutting along the wood grain. Rip Torn, characterized by a demonic grin, was ideal as Artie on “The Larry Sanders Show.” Crosscut saws have knife-like teeth and excel in cutting across the grain. A hacksaw mainly cuts metal and plastic, such as rods, pipes, and tubes. Mel Gibson’s “Hacksaw Ridge” mainly sets a record for the most bodies ever shot or burned in a movie.
Hammers and axes are both versatile tools with several types and uses. What kind you ask? Hammers, for instance, vary from the claw hammer, used for driving and removing nails, to the ball-peen hamme, used in metalworking for tasks such as shaping and riveting. In the movie “You Were Never Here,” Joaquin Phoenix used a ball-peen hammer to kill people, and that was one of his more normal roles.r With their hefty heads, sledgehammers have heavy duty applications such as breaking concrete or driving stakes. Axes are primarily designed for chopping and splitting wood. Axe body spray is primarily designed for people who lost their senses of smell in childhood accidents.
There are several types of digging tools, each with its unique purpose. Shovels are ideal for breaking up soil and digging holes, while spades have flat, rectangular blades perfect for edging, slicing soil layers, and transplanting. “Spades” rhymes with “blades.” Coincidence? We think not. A hand trowel is a small tool for gardeners planting, digging small holes, and weeding. (Heh heh. The first syllable of “weeding” is “weed.” Heh heh.) A pickaxe has a hard, pointed iron or steel blade for breaking up hard surfaces and rocks, and a garden fork loosens and turns over the soil. We recommend pickaxes for all you budding grizzled old prospectors who say things like “Consarn it!” and “Man, am I grizzled!”
Knives and shears are essential across several industries, which we will now enumerate in the following convenient sentences. In the manufacturing sector, workers use them for cutting, trimming, and shaping materials, contributing to producing items ranging from clothing to automotive parts. In the food industry, chefs and cooks rely on knives for preparing ingredients and creating culinary masterpieces. (Or just peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches. We’re not fussy.) On the other hand, shears are vital in gardening and landscaping for trimming and shaping plants, ensuring neat presentation, and promoting healthy growth. Unhealthy growth would be, what? Death? Medical professionals also use specially designed knives and shears for surgical procedures, demonstrating the critical role of these tools in diverse industries. Warning: MROSupply is not responsible for those medical professionals who use these knives to play God and accidentally raise the dead. Unless it’s really, really cool.
